lorida lends itself to our eyes and ears, our feet, fingertips and noses, with an undercurrent of almost conscious intent. It shapes our impressions in ways both subtle and fierce. Think the cool dampness after a summer rain or the relentless heat of an open field or beach: the tenderness of a sea turtle nesting in full moonlight or the feeding frenzy of a score of alligators as fish collect in a drying pond.

Florida lends itself to the photographer's lens, the painter's brush and the writer's pen in the same ways. And when rendered in song, Florida offers its varied rhythms of land, of people, of history, requiring the talent of many musicians to even approach getting its story told.

I am happy to be one of those writers, those musicians. The stories and rhythms I share with you have been shaped in me from birth by the land of sun and water. So I invite you: Come hear what Florida sounds like to me.
